Spelling
For spelling, we combine spelling instruction with Greek and Latin root study that is required by the Common Core English Language Arts Standards. After the completion of the vocabulary and comprehension quizzes for the current lesson, we begin a word study that focuses on three major Greek/ Latin roots. The students are given a list of ten words to learn to spell. They must also learn the definition of the three main Green/Latin roots for that lesson. The date for the quiz will be written in the students' assignment books.
